This month we're getting to know our lovely teacher Claryn. Claryn joined The Loft in November to teach Restorative Yoga Thursdays at 6pm and we're so happy to have her on the team!
If you're new to Restorative yoga then to give you some background, there is no real goal; it’s simply an invitation to give yourself permission to relax and release tension. Restorative yoga offers a gateway to deep relaxation and the cultivation of being-ness. It welcomes you home to yourself away from the demands and stresses of daily life. It holds space for healing as it gently repairs, soothes, and nourishes your nervous system. Claryn's intention and priority is to always hold a safe space for you and support you deeply to enable you to access a state of relaxation and calmness - we use a variety of props in the class to help achieve this, in order for you to be fully immersed in this nurturing experience.
We had a chat with Claryn to find out a little more about her yoga journey, to reserve a spot in Claryn's class click HERE
How long have you been practicing yoga? 7 years What brought you to yoga in the first place? I was stressed and burnout at work and yoga was something that was accessible that I could do at home at anytime. My first yoga practice was actually following a DVD with Nadia Narain and I did that for a while before being brave enough to go to my first class and then on a retreat in France. It was after then that I decided to do my 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2018 followed by training in Yin, Restorative and Yoga Nidra. Why do you love to practice? I love my practice as it’s one of entry points to my body and to access my body’s wisdom, it connects me with my breath more consciously and I get to indulge in my own time, space and energy. What style of yoga do you practice and teach? My favourite practice is Yin but I also incorporate a flow of yang poses. I do like to come to Tash’ Move and Hanri’s Flow when I can to challenge myself, learn something new and have a laugh! I teach Restorative Yoga on Thursday evening and have had opportunities to cover Tash’ Breathe classes. Why do you prefer this style? It helps to quieten to mind chatter so that you can hear what your body is trying to tell you. This is where you meet yourself, be present and be more aware for any sensations, emotions, and thoughts that might arise. What can students expect from a "Claryn" class? I’d love for the students to feel rested, relaxed, nourished and recharged after my class. It’s my priority to ensure that I create a space that is safe and brings calmness for the students to be able to immerse in the experience, let go of any expectations, goals or demands and enjoy being. What are your favourite things about Oakham? Lily and Honey Bakery 😍, the Larder and Romi 😋
